After Touch is a lecture performance by Lena Kocutar and Julia Cremers about the hidden realities behind the ‘Industrial Monument’ by Joep van Lieshout that consists of two lines of plane trees situated in front of the Amsterdam Perron Oost Museum. While the monument is a visual commemoration of the industrial past of this neighborhood, the performance ‘After Touch’ addresses the invisible forces of the present-day that are leaving its mark on the area, including gentrification, rising house prices and air pollution. While the monument itself is not supposed to be touched, this performance illustrates how economic, political, and environmental factors invisibly impact and influence the monument and it surroundings.
